La Voladora es una bruja de menos rango que posee la habilidad para convertirse en pajaro y su función consiste en ser mensajera de otros brujos.
Cuando sus servicio son solicitados, esta mujer recibe de sus superiores una mezcla de aceite de lobo marino y zumo de Natre (arbol medicinal del cual se obtiene un líquido muy amargo).
Tras beber el brebaje, la mujer es encerrada durante unas noches noche en una pieza oscura, hasta que la amarga bebida hace su efecto y la voladora vomita sus intestinos en una fuente de madera de Ciruelillo o de Alerce (que se conoce como Lapa). Su cuerpo poco a poco se va secando, le comienzan a salir plumas y pico. Queda así transformada en una Bauda. Una vez terminado el proceso la volador oculta sus instestinos y emprende el vuelo para completar la o las misiones que se le hayan asignado.
Como la voldora se transforma en pájaro, no requiere del uso del Macuñ para volar como el resto de lo brujos. Aunque tiene esta ventaja, al ser una bruja de menos rango no se le permite participar de todas las reuniones ni ceremonia efectuadas por el resto de sus superiores.
Terminada su misión debe buscar la Lapa con sus intestinos, volverlos a tragar y esperar que el hechizo termine su efecto para volver a tomar su forma humana.
En el caso de que la lapa con sus intestinos fuese robada o los intestinos devorados por algún animal. La infortunada bruja jamáz recuperará su forma humana, y su vida pronto acabará al no poder alimentarse ya que carece de aparato digestivo.
La Bauda es un pájaro oscuro del sur de Chile, que habita en las orillas del mar, lagos y lagunas donde encuentra su alimento. Quienes han escuchado su graznido dicen que suena como una burlona y macabra carcajada que llega a helar los huesos.
También se conoce a esta ave como Huairavo y su nombre científico es Nycticorax nicticorax obscurus Bonaparte.
Su longitud es de aproximadamente 56,5 cm. y su envergadura de 112 cm. Tiene el dorso y lomo negros con brillo verdoso metálico y partes inferiores gris pálida o blanquecina. Alas grises. Pico largo y amarillo obscuro. Patas relativamente cortas de color amarillo. Tienen 2 ó 3 plumas blancas que salen de la parte posterior de la cabeza. El ave nueva es parda grisáceo y listado de leonado.
The «Voladora» - The Flying Witch
The «Voladora» or flying Witch is a lower rank witch, having the ability to become a bird and she plays the role of a courier among witches and warlocks.
When her services are required, she receives from her superior a sort of mixture of seal oil and Natre Juice ( The Natre is a medicinal tree from which you can get a bitter liquid).
After drinking this beverage, the woman is locked up during some nights in a dark bedroom until this bitter drink starts to take effect and The Flying Witch throws up her intestines in wooden receptacle made of Ciruelillo or wood of “Alerce “( Sandarac tree), this wood is also known as “lapa”. Her body gradually starts to dry,and she also starts to grow feathers and a beak. So she finally becomes a” Bauda”, Once the process is finished, she hides her intestines and takes off to carry out all the missions she has been asked to do.
As the Flying Witch becomes a bird, the use of the Macuñ is not required (this is used by the rest of Witches and Warlocks to fly) Although she has this advantage , she is not allowed to participate in all the meetings and ceremonies held.
When her mission is finished she must fetch the “lapa” (wooden receptacle) with all her intestines and swallow them and wait until the spell effect finishes in order to become again a woman.
In case the “lapa” with all her intestines is stolen or the intestines are eaten by some animal. The unlucky witch will never be a woman again , remains as an animal and dies very soon since she doesn’t have the digestive system animals have.
The “Bauda” is a dark bird from The South of Chile, it inhabits along the seashore, and lakes and lagoon banks where it usually finds food. People who have heardits quack say that it sounds like a mocking laugh or a creepy guffaw which makes you shiver.
This bird is also known as Huairavo and its scientific name is Nycticorax nicticorax obscurus Bonaparte.
It is about 56, 6 centimetres length and its wingspan is 112 centimetres It has a black back with metallic greenish highlights and the lower parts of its body are whitish. Its wings are grey and it has got a long yellow beak. Its feet are short and yellow. They usually have 2 or 3 white coming from the posterior part of their head. The young bird is grayish brown with lion like stripes.
