El Peuchén o Piuchen es una culebra voladora que emite sonidos muy agudos.
De ámbito nocturno, y de muy mal genio, chupa la sangre de las personas y animales a distancia, debilitándolos y enfermándolos gravemente hasta provocarles la muerte, si no se hace algo a tiempo.
También se le atribuye el pronosticar la muerte a quienes lo hayan mirado. Su aspecto es totalmente híbrido pues tiene rasgos de pez, humano, ave, e incluso de murciélago. Su cuerpo siempre esta cubierto con ramas, hongos y musgos.
Las veces que se le ha visto en el mar, ha llegado a derribar embarcaciones aprovechándose de su gran tamaño, pues puede llegar a medir hasta 3 metros de largo.
Quien se atreve a bañarse en las aguas donde haya pasado el Piuchén quedará instantáneamente cubierto de erupciones en la piel tipo sarna. Los peces huyen del lugar y hay que invocar a la Pincoya para que vuelva la pesca a dicha zona.
La única manera de hacer que se aleje de los lugares es tirar sal bendita, provocando así que no se asomare por algún tiempo.
No está demás mencionar que muchos piensan que el Chupacabras es algún tipo de Piuchén que ha emigrado a otras lugares de América.
The Piuchen
The Peuchen or Piuchen is a flying snake which produces extremely high-pitched rounds. It is found at night and is terribly bad tempered, sucks blood from people, therefore, they become weak and get seriously sick until they die, if something is not done in due time.
Predicting the death of someone who has been looked by it , it is also attributed to The Peuchen. Its appearance is totally hybrid since it has got traits of a fish, human, bird and even bat. its body is always covered by branches, fungus and moss.
On occasions, it has been seen over the sea, and has brought down some vessels taking advantage of his huge size due to the fact that it can reach 3 meters long.
The person who dares to have a bath or swimming in the waters where The Peuchen has been would be covered by a rash similar to scabies. Fishes escape from the place and The Pincoya has to be invoked so as to fish again in that area.
The only way to keep it away from the places is by throwing holy salt on it, as a result of this, The Peuchen would never peer into those places again.
It goes without saying that many people think that the famous goatsucker or “Chupacabras” is some sort of Peuchén coming from some places of Latin America.
